One of the most important aspects of eating paleo is making sure that you have delicious paleo diet recipes at your disposal! There are many different recipes that you can incorporate into your meals, and not all of them will be exactly the same. If you still haven’t picked up our cookbook, you can find it HERE.
We have both strict paleo diet recipes, and cheat recipes. The strict recipes will obviously be the primary foods you want to intake. The cheat recipes are more geared towards cheat days, or people that want to ease their way into the paleo lifestyle.
Remember, this plan is all about health and losing weight, so try and stick as close to your goals as you can. Don’t be discouraged if you mess up! Remember, nobody’s perfect and this is something that takes work. There are different supplements available that follow the guidelines as well that you can incorporate if you wish to get more nutrition.
Paleo Recipes- Plant to Animal Ratio:
The plant to animal ratio that is optimal in our daily nutrition has been a topic that is very heavily argued in this community for quite some time now. Nobody seems to agree with each other on what the perfect ratio is. However, we all can agree that plants and animals will make up the majority of our paleo way. The most common ratio of plant to animals is about 54-58% of animal calories and 32-36% plant calories. The remainder will be made up of nuts, berries, and fruits.
When constructing your weekly meals, make sure that you are getting the proper amount of nutrients that your body needs, and make it as diverse as possible. The more diverse, the better. You want fats, meat, vegetables, etc. Anything that would have been found in paleo times or today’s foods due to being healthy for you as a whole.
I would recommend playing with your food intake a bit and seeing what kind of response your body gives you. Try certain things for a couple days and then different foods other days. See what your body responds the best to and what will give you the most energy throughout the day. When you are dealing with 100% natural foods, whatever will give you the most energy will typically be the healthiest for you to incorporate into your lifestyle.
If you are just starting out, it is important you experiment with as many foods as possible, and see what your body responds the best to. Within a short period of time, you will find what works. And as I said in my post The Beginning of Paleo, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”
